...but what an plethora of choices awaits you in both Jomtien and Pattaya. It can literally take you YEARS to discover the multitude of bars and entertainment venues (yes we have witnesses to prove that), so here's just a short review for now. Theprasit Soi 10 has its own galaxy of nocturnal offerings and the Highlander Bar is PERFECTLY situated in a CENTRAL location between Jomtien and Pattaya, so you can take your choice in either direction. A 150m stroll down towards the soi takes you past 5-6 local bars and establishments and then you get to Soi 17 which has a large number of Thai Karaoke bars and venus and then as you get closer to Pattaya you'll go past 10-15 venues of varying proportions, all with different offerings.

Music Choices & Venues

For those looking for something more sedate, you can take time out and sample some traditional entertainment at pubs like Kilkenny's & Shenanigans Irish Pubs, Hopf Brew House -a three story pub with atrium, live music and euro-beer. Try the Hard Rock Cafe for good Live bands and foam party on Saturdays.

The Famous Bamboo Bar
Reportedly, this bar near the corner of walking street and Pattaya Tai, was one of, if not the very first establishment to offer live foreign music to the G.I.'s in the early days when Pattaya was just a few wooden shacks and a dirt road. You can still dance the night away to reasonable covers by local bands. Expect an older crowd with similar vintage of tunes. Very popular.

The Bars
There are literally thousands of bars in the Pattaya and Jomtien regions at every budget, level of sophistication and personal preference including a large contingent of Thai venues and Discos, but primarily most of the bars cater to visiting tourists. Competition is tough and there are always new themes and ideas to attract your attention and of course your money, but generally this is still one of the SAFEST destinations of its kind in the world. The few troubles and problems you'll hear about around town can often be traced back to someone having had far too much alcohol and forgetting their common sense.
			Walking Street is the most popular and highly concentrated center for go go bars and the such-like. There is also a complete shopping experience all night as well, and the street is usually crowded with people mingling, and bar-hopping or shopping into the early hours. Walking street accounts for only 5% of the number of bars and venues in town but they are certainly usually the most expensive and usually the more popular attractions to the first time visitors. Tiffany's & Alcazar Two of Pattaya's most famous nightlife attractions are of course the transvestite cabaret shows. These are amazing shows in and any first time visitor is usually amazed and delighted at the spectacle and performances that keep the crowds coming back all year round. They also have the famous "alternative Ms World and Ms Universe" contests which attract those of the 3rd Gender (referred to sometimes affectionately in Thailand as Katoeys) from all over the world! Thais often win this hands down and you will simply stand astounded as to the question "is that a real girl or not"?
			Tiffany's show was the original transvestite show in town and became so popular that they hold international beauty pageants there annually, where trans genders come from all over the world to compete for the crown. After the shows, the audience have an opportunity to meet the stars and verify their bona fide beauty up close and in person.
